The world's finest student-led team for experimental liquid propulsion technologies

LPL is unique in that it is focuses solely on liquid propulsion rocket engines and is operated entirely by students.

Liquid propulsion systems are often more complex than those used for solid rockets but they offer some unique benefits well worth the trouble.  Liquid-fueled rocket engines allow for variable thrust, easily comparable, controllable, and repeatable tests, and are often more easily re-used than their solid and hybrid counterparts.    For these reasons, and many more, LPL's main focus is on developing reliable liquid rocket engine technology.

At the Liquid Propulsion Lab, everything is done by students.

Project Creation  •  Development  •  Design  •  Test  •  Analysis  •  Implementation

And so much more

We believe that students learn best by doing and teaching.  So that is what we do.

How many more years I shall be able to work on the problem I do not know; I hope, as long as I live. There can be no thought of finishing, for ‘aiming at the stars’ both literally and figuratively, is a problem to occupy generations, so that no matter how much progress one makes, there is always the thrill of just beginning.
— Robert H. Goddard (1932)
